Ecuador in October
The trip to Ecuador which I mentioned earlier is beginning to take shape. We bought the plane tickets and will be heading deep into the Amazon jungle (did you notice that going to the Amazon jungle is always ‘deep’?) in about two months.
The trip will take us through various towns, documenting the way Ecuadoreans celebrate the ‘Day of the Dead’, then east into the jungle where we will meet the indigenous Waorani tribe - wonderful, simple and proud hunter-gatherers - and in the end we will spend a few days relaxing and sunbathing in November on the shores of the Pacific Ocean.

As we did before, this trip too will be documented and recorded in the form of a travel diary. But this time, to break the language barriers, I have decided to make it a video diary. It will take more time to produce, but the result will be worth the wait.
The diary, or parts of it, will also be present on the website of ‘Barefoot Expeditions‘ or here, the local travel agent who was kind enough to custom-build the Jungle part of the trip to suit our specific needs.
As a conclusion I leave you with zReportage from ZUMApress which features my work from Ethiopia as this week’s essay. If you don’t know what it’s about, there a text attached also, which I recommend reading.
